You are as wrong as you could be. Zimmerman’s acquittal had nothing to do with any Stand Your Ground law — because he wasn’t standing his ground. The jury didn’t believe he was standing, but instead he was flat on his back being punched repeatedly by Martin. They believed there was a reasonable chance he shot Martin in self-defense because of his risk of serious or fatal injury.
