It’s a nice sounding bromide, but you yourself really don’t believe this for a second. Your need to be seen a “helper whitey” says you don’t really think whites are “just people.” If you thought everyone was “just people” you’d target at least some of your helpfulness at black people, but you don’t dare, because you don’t believe you have any moral standing. So it’s not that everyone is “just people.” No, whites, and whites alone, need moral correction from blacks and enlightened “helpful whiteys” like yourself.

Talk about not seeing the water you swim in — you swim in a veritable ocean of sanctimony.
